About The Project
A modern re-telling of the historical Queen Elizabeth I legitimacy for the crown. It puts on trial Bess as a teenager caught in the scandals of sleeping with her mother-in-law's husband Thomas Seymore. In having to brave a trial that would have her convicted of treason, sedition, and overthrow of the administration, Bess would have to use her wits and her courage to face a court system that would rather see her fail.
As Lighting designer I worked closely to touch on the emotional storytelling aspect as well as the crash of the memories of the past and the secrets of the present. I chose to explore the warmth of the memories with soft red/amber tones and the wickedness of the present perils with ice blue hues. Programmed on a Chamsys QuickQ10.
As board operator for this black box production I had to also delicately orchestrate the 78 sound cues and 82 light cues as well as a surprise confetti drop.
